More than a year after Maryland dentist Thomas Menton committed suicide following a police investigation, three women are suing his estate and his former practice.
Menton, 59, faces charges that he placed a camera in an employee bathroom to secretly film three female co-workers naked.
The Standard, citing the lawsuit and police records, says the camera was found in a “Jack and Jill”-style bathroom between Menton’s office and other dentists’ offices. The lawsuit also alleges that after Menton bought a Peloton stationary exercise bike for the practice, he encouraged employees to use the bathroom showers and urged them to work out during work hours.
The case arose after one of the women discovered the hidden camera.
During the investigation, Menton told police that he had placed a watch charging dock in the bathroom but denied placing the camera there. He also said he wouldn’t accidentally buy a charger with a camera.
Menton committed suicide a few days after the investigation began. While criminal charges were never filed, the case is still pending in local and federal courts.
