The kindergarten parent-child teeth cleaning carnival was held at the Ocean University, with 300 parents and children signing up to participate. It was quite enthusiastic, allowing the children to learn to protect their teeth in a relaxed and happy atmosphere and be willing to brush their teeth every day.
The Education Department pointed out that this year (2025) the kindergarten parent-child teeth cleaning carnival was held for the first time, targeting preschool children, and 300 parents and children signed up. Including kindergarten teachers, children and parents participated together, and at the same time, 40 groups, 90 parent-child groups and 10 special needs groups were open to participate in the happy teeth cleaning competition.
Cai Zhiming, chairman of the Keelung Dentists Association, said that parents are the first line of care for children’s oral hygiene during the early childhood stage, and it is very important for parents and kindergarten teachers to understand the concept and method of tooth cleaning together.
Lin Jianhong, vice chairman of the Oral Hygiene Committee of the Dental Association, said, “Medical evidence shows that brushing teeth more than twice a day with toothpaste containing more than 1000ppm of fluoride can effectively prevent tooth decay.” He hopes to promote this concept from the kindergarten stage to maintain healthy teeth.
After the organizer explained how to brush teeth correctly, let the children eat biscuits first, then squeeze toothpaste to brush their teeth, and finally apply plaque indicator to check the cleanliness. The children brushed their teeth very seriously, and the parents also practiced brushing their teeth for the children.
The Dental Association set up a challenge activity on the “fluoride” gifted by God, a consultation on preschool special education benefits and services at the Special Education Resource Center, board games at the Early Childhood Reporting and Referral and Individual Management Center, and a photo-taking and check-in area at the Anxin Kindergarten. The atmosphere on site was very warm. The children said that they would learn the correct way to brush their teeth and brush their teeth every day to prevent tooth decay.
