Inflammation of wisdom teeth, usually refers to the acute inflammation of the soft tissue around the crown of the wisdom tooth (third molar), which is incomplete or blocked in eruption. It mainly occurs in young people around the age of 18 to 30 when wisdom teeth erupt. Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in the whole mouth, often due to lack of space, the eruption position is not correct or the eruption is blocked, especially the impacted mandibular wisdom teeth are the most common. Wisdom tooth crowns are covered by a gingival flap that forms a blind pocket between the gingival flap and the crown. Usually there are food residues, bacteria and exudates in the blind bag, which is safe with the human body. Pericoronitis occurs when the body’s resistance decreases, or when the virulence of bacteria increases. There is local swelling and pain on the affected side, and the pain is aggravated when chewing, swallowing, or opening the mouth, often accompanied by symptoms of restricted opening. Submandibular lymph nodes swollen, the total number of white blood cells increased. In severe cases, fever, headache, and general malaise may occur. Pericoronitis can also spread to the surrounding, causing adjacent tissues and organs or space infection, leading to serious complications. Reminder: Wisdom tooth inflammation does not need to be overly nervous. You only need to go to a regular and professional dental hospital for corresponding treatment to keep you away from trouble.
