Pioneer and Merdeka generation, blue or orange CHAS card holders will enjoy higher subsidies for seven types of restorative dental treatments from the fourth quarter of this year. These dental services include dentures, permanent crowns, and root canal treatment.
Currently, subsidies for basic and preventive dental care services are limited to Pioneer and Merdeka generation, as well as blue CHAS card holders, including dental services such as consultations, extractions, cleanings, and X-rays. From the fourth quarter of this year, orange CHAS card holders will also be able to enjoy subsidies of up to $45.50. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the increased subsidies will benefit up to 1.7 million CHAS card holders. In addition, the Ministry of Health will also introduce fee benchmarks for general dental treatments in the fourth quarter of this year.
From October 1 this year, the annual Flexi-MediSave for outpatient medical services for people aged 60 and above will be increased from $300 to $400. About 700,000 patients will benefit from this. By the middle of next year, people aged 60 and above will also be able to use their flexible health savings with an increased cap to get crowns and root canal treatments. From January next year, the maximum withdrawal limit for health savings for scans such as CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be doubled from $300 to $600. This will benefit more than 500,000 patients who need to use their health savings for scans every year.
