Marquette University School of Dentistry, the only dental school in Wisconsin, has teamed up with IntelePeer, a leading provider of AI-powered communication automation solutions, to implement IntelePeer’s SmartOffice platform. This advanced solution, powered by Generative AI technology, will streamline and automate patient communications, handling both inbound and outbound calls while providing self-service options for patients. This innovation aims to improve the overall patient experience by ensuring quick and efficient responses to inquiries, all while maximizing operatory occupancy—crucial for the school’s student practice in a patient-centered environment.
Frank Fawzi, CEO of IntelePeer, highlighted the growing need for efficiency in medical practices, noting that a Google study revealed medical staff spends an average of 34 hours a week on administrative tasks, with 30% of that time dedicated to communication. “IntelePeer’s mission is to simplify and automate communications, enabling healthcare organizations to provide personalized, technology-driven interactions. By leveraging AI, our SmartOffice solution helps practices enhance patient experiences, reduce labor costs, and achieve a quick return on investment.”
For Marquette’s School of Dentistry, SmartOffice will reduce the burden of administrative tasks, allowing both students and staff to dedicate more time to providing patient care. The solution includes features like appointment reminders and rescheduling support, which are expected to reduce patient no-show rates. Additionally, by integrating with the school’s Practice Management System, SmartOffice will manage the entire patient lifecycle—pre-treatment, during treatment, and post-treatment—providing a seamless experience for patients.
Dr. Elsbeth Kalenderian, dean of Marquette’s dental school, explained the school’s vision of becoming a national leader in community-focused academic oral health. With more than 50,000 patient visits each year, minimizing no-shows is essential for maintaining high operational efficiency. “Automating scheduling and payment requests with SmartOffice ensures that our students and faculty can concentrate more on delivering exceptional, patient-centered dental care,” Dr. Kalenderian said.
This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing the dental school’s ability to serve its community while advancing the integration of AI technology in patient care.
