On January 8, Ringwood Dental underwent an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with the findings published on February 7. The practice received favorable ratings in several key areas, but concerns regarding its leadership were identified.
The report affirmed that the dental practice met CQC standards in four crucial categories: safety, effectiveness, caring, and responsiveness. Patients reported receiving respectful and dignified treatment, and they had access to dental services as needed. Additionally, the practice was commended for handling complaints in a positive and efficient manner.
However, the CQC assessment revealed that the practice did not fully comply with the leadership standards. The report highlighted that “not all risks associated with the undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated,” pointing to gaps in leadership oversight.
The dental facility, which provides both NHS and private services for adults and children, is fully accessible, offering step-free entry and parking for those with disabilities. The CQC gathered feedback from 17 patients during the evaluation, with most expressing satisfaction about the cleanliness of the practice and the availability of appointments. Nevertheless, concerns were raised by some patients: three were unclear on how to file a complaint, and five did not know how to access emergency care outside of regular hours.
In light of these findings, the CQC has requested that Ringwood Dental submit an action plan to address these issues and improve its services.
