Victoria Cool Aid is launching a $50,000 fundraising campaign this month to help provide essential dental care for low-income seniors and individuals affected by trauma and poverty.
Serving over 12,000 people annually across 20 locations in Greater Victoria, Cool Aid offers a range of services including affordable housing, emergency shelter, primary health care, wellness programs, and nutritious meals. Notably, Cool Aid operates the only adult-serving, non-profit dental clinic in the Capital Region, which provides compassionate, trauma-informed care to thousands of patients every year.
In 2024 alone, the Cool Aid dental clinic facilitated nearly 5,000 patient visits, with more than 25 percent of those patients being seniors. The clinic offers a wide range of services, such as fillings, diagnostics, hygiene treatments, root canals, extractions, and dentures.
The $50,000 campaign aims to support the Cool Aid dental bursary, which has already helped 400 people over the past three years. For individuals paying out-of-pocket, Cool Aid provides a 20 percent discount along with access to the bursary, ensuring that low-income community members can receive the care they need. The funds raised through this February campaign will directly contribute to expanding the reach and accessibility of these vital dental services.
