Starting March 1, military families enrolled in the Tricare Dental Program will see a reduction in their monthly premiums as part of the new contract, with some active-duty families experiencing a significant drop. Notably, families with more than one insured member in pay grades E-4 and below will benefit from a nearly one-third decrease, with premiums dropping from $31.46 to $22.48—a savings of $8.98.
The new rates, which will be reflected in February’s bill (covering March coverage), will vary based on service members’ rank, status, and enrollment type. Reductions range from $0.57 to $8.98 per month compared to the previous rates.
The Tricare Dental Program is a voluntary plan for active-duty family members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their families, with enrollment available at any time. While premiums are dropping, co-payments for certain services, like basic restorative services (20%), will remain unchanged. Preventive and diagnostic services will still be covered with no co-pay, and there is no annual deductible.
In addition to the premium reduction, the program now provides more access to dental care, including specialists and online appointments for checkups and care planning. United Concordia will continue to administer the Tricare Dental Program through February 2026. The program offers a wide network of providers, including dentists in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and overseas locations.
It’s important to note that Tricare dental coverage is separate from Tricare medical coverage and requires its own enrollment. Active-duty members typically receive dental care through military clinics under the Active Duty Dental Program.
