Two years ago, Avigail Hayon made her dream a reality by founding Smart Dental in Netivot, a city in southern Israel. As an experienced dentist with 22 years in the field, Hayon wanted to provide high-quality, comprehensive dental care to underserved communities in the region. “I brought the message to the periphery,” Hayon says, highlighting her commitment to offering advanced treatments outside of Israel’s central areas.
Hayon designed and built Smart Dental herself, aiming for a luxurious and aesthetically pleasing space that reflects her vision. “The clinic is my baby,” she proudly states. The clinic offers a wide range of services, from general anesthesia and sedation to orthodontics, implants, aesthetic treatments, and complex surgeries. Notably, it also provides zygoma surgeries, a cutting-edge solution for patients with atrophic jaws, a condition often considered untreatable in other clinics.
Equipped with the latest digital dental technologies such as intraoral scanners and an imaging laboratory, Smart Dental streamlines the patient experience by handling everything under one roof. The clinic’s dedicated team of 14 professionals includes four surgeons, restorative dentists, aesthetic specialists, anesthesiologists, and oral and maxillofacial experts. Hayon carefully selected her team from her work at prominent hospitals such as Ichilov and Soroka, ensuring the best doctors and surgeons were involved.
“I realized there was a lack of a center in the south offering all these treatments,” says Hayon. Having moved from Moshav Hatzav near Gedera, she wanted to bring the same level of dental expertise found in Tel Aviv to the southern region. One of her key goals was to offer training opportunities for local dentists who didn’t want to travel to the center for professional development. “Here, they can learn and provide their patients with better and more advanced care,” she explains.
Smart Dental’s services also include treatments under general anesthesia and sedation, which are rare in the south. The clinic has become the first in Israel to combine specialized dental treatments, training, and aesthetic services in a single facility located in the periphery. “There’s no other center with such a concept,” Hayon states.
Patients from across southern Israel, from Ashkelon to Eilat, come to Smart Dental for its advanced care. Despite offering premium services, Smart Dental is committed to providing affordable treatment, making it accessible to middle-class and disadvantaged populations in the region. “Until now, to receive quality dental care, southern residents had to travel to the center,” says Hayon. “I know many people in the south can’t afford to pay exorbitant prices, yet they still deserve high-quality care.”
Smart Dental’s approach focuses on personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs, ensuring optimal results and long-term oral health. With a strong emphasis on professional collaboration, every case is carefully examined, and patients receive guidance for maintaining their oral health through continuous follow-ups and personalized advice.
