The health of your teeth, gums, and mouth is essential to overall well-being, and STCC’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is stepping up to help by offering free preventative dental treatments throughout February and March 2025.
During this limited-time initiative, the clinic will provide complimentary cleanings and X-rays for both children and adults. Typically, STCC charges a modest fee for these services, but as part of its community outreach, the clinic is waiving the $35 cost for prophylaxis (teeth cleaning), exams, and bitewing X-rays.
“We are excited to offer free treatment to the community,” said Christopher Scott, dean of the School of Health and Patient Simulation at STCC. “This initiative not only provides our students with essential hands-on training but also ensures that individuals who may not have access to dental care can receive important hygiene treatments and examinations.”
Additional services, such as sealants, whitening trays, nightguards, and full-mouth X-rays, will be available at highly reduced rates.
The clinic operates under the supervision of licensed dentists and hygienists, allowing students in the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant programs to gain practical experience before joining dental offices across the state.
Meg Loadholt, Dental Hygiene program coordinator, emphasized the impact of the program, particularly for individuals who struggle to afford care:
“Deep cleaning is often a costly procedure, but patients can come here and receive it for free.”
This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for those who have been denied insurance coverage for essential dental treatments, ensuring broader access to quality oral healthcare.
