In observance of the 84th Raising Day of the Army Dental Corps, the Command Military Dental Centre (Southern Command) organized a special Oral Health and Oral Cancer Detection Camp at the ECHS Polyclinic in Satara. The camp was aimed at providing crucial dental care services to veterans and Veer Naris, recognizing their invaluable service to the nation.
The event was formally inaugurated by Brigadier SK Roy Chowdhury, SM, the Deputy Commandant of CMDC (SC). A team of skilled dental specialists played a pivotal role in the initiative, including Col Prasun Mukhopadhyay (Periodontics), Col Bensy Varghese (Prosthodontics), Lt Col Kiran L Awchat (Prosthodontics), Lt Col T Balasundaram (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery), Maj Ranjoy Hazra (Prosthodontics), Maj Jacqueline Jacinta Dias (Periodontics), and Maj Vallari Jain (Endodontics).
Over the course of the camp, 125 patients were assessed and treated for various oral health issues. In addition to general dental care, the medical team conducted oral cancer screenings, stressing the importance of early detection and preventive measures.
The event also featured educational sessions aimed at raising awareness about oral health, with a special focus on the elderly. These sessions emphasized tailored care, addressing the unique health needs of senior citizens with compassion and expertise.
This initiative underscored the Army Dental Corps’ ongoing dedication to the well-being of veterans and their families, reinforcing the importance of providing comprehensive healthcare services to ensure their continued health and welfare.
