Harcum College is taking a significant step toward enhancing oral health and wellness in the community with its upcoming Sealant Day event. This initiative, aimed at providing free preventative dental care, will take place on Monday, February 17, at the College’s Dental Clinic, located at 750 Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr.
The event is open to both the general public and the Harcum community, with a special focus on children ages 6 to 12. Families are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the free dental services offered, which include cavity-preventing sealants, fluoride treatments, oral exams, and valuable guidance on maintaining good oral hygiene.
Dr. Staci Violante, DHSc, RDH, and the Dental Hygiene Program Director at Harcum College, emphasized the benefits of dental sealants, explaining that they can prevent up to 80 percent of cavities for as long as two years. “Sealants are a powerful tool in reducing dental decay, especially among children,” Dr. Violante said. “This event offers a proactive and cost-effective way to improve oral health while fostering lasting relationships in the community.”
Harcum Dental Hygiene student Luryin Schenker also expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “We help protect their smiles and promote better oral health. It’s a meaningful way to make a positive impact, and I’m excited to contribute to it.”
This Sealant Day event underscores Harcum College’s commitment to improving community health and empowering individuals to prioritize their oral wellness.
