Dr. Parrett’s distinguished career in dentistry began with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1976. His journey in the dental field quickly gained momentum as he started a private practice in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where he built a reputation for delivering superior patient care and applying innovative dental practices.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Parrett made significant contributions to the field by serving as the Head of the Department of Dentistry at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute in Ohio during the late 1970s. His dedication to lifelong learning led him to earn Fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and participate in extensive continuing education to further enhance his knowledge and skills.
Dr. Parrett is an active member of various professional organizations, such as the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of the History of Dentistry, and the International Dental Health Foundation. His leadership within the Cumberland Valley Dental Society, where he served as president, reflects his passion for advancing the dental profession and engaging with his community.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Parrett has had a profound impact on dental education. He served as Vice Chairman of the Library and Education Committee at Chambersburg Hospital Medical Staff since 1998, fostering a culture of learning and professional development. He also contributed to the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery as a member of the Dean’s Faculty from 2006 to 2012, helping to educate and mentor future dental professionals.
Inspired by his childhood dentist and the doctor who treated him during illnesses, Dr. Parrett places a strong emphasis on listening to his patients’ needs and providing them with the highest standard of care. His approach to dentistry is rooted in a deep commitment to improving the lives of his patients.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Parrett aspires to expand his influence in the dental community through teaching, mentoring, and speaking at conferences.
