The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) will once again host its annual “Give Kids a Smile® Day” on the Bangor campus, offering free dental services to children in need. Set for Friday, February 21, 2025, the event aims to promote better oral health for children between the ages of 5 and 19 who lack access to regular dental care.
Sponsored by the American Dental Association (ADA), the initiative will provide a range of preventive dental services, including cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and thorough examinations. This community-focused event is designed to support families by offering essential dental care at no cost while also encouraging long-term oral health practices.
Nancy Foster, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Dental Health Programs at UMA, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: “Give Kids a Smile® Day is an excellent opportunity for us to unite as a community and enhance the well-being of our children. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated dental hygiene students and faculty, we can offer critical preventive care and education to these children free of charge. Our mission is to create healthy smiles that last a lifetime and to reinforce the importance of oral health.”
