Brandi Glanville, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, has revealed the toll that her recent health issues have taken on her physical appearance, including the loss of nearly five teeth. In an interview with The US Sun, Glanville, 52, shared that her ongoing struggles began with stress-induced angioedema, a condition that caused severe facial swelling and significantly impacted her dental health.
“I lost five teeth out of my head, so my face has been looking really thin,” Glanville explained, reflecting on how the condition affected her appearance. The swelling also caused her teeth to shift, further complicating her situation.
Fortunately, Glanville received support from her friend and former Real Housewives co-star Phaedra Parks, who introduced her to Dr. Anjali Rajpal, a dentist who offered to help. Glanville expressed her gratitude for Dr. Rajpal’s care, calling her treatment a “gift” just in time for the holidays. “She’s giving me the gift of smiling again,” Glanville shared, mentioning that she is in the process of receiving dental work, including a newly placed tooth in the back of her mouth. “I can eat again, I’m not chewing with the front of my teeth, and I can smile again.”
Despite this progress, Glanville noted that her recovery is still ongoing, and she continues to work on reconstructing the missing teeth. She admitted to feeling self-conscious about her appearance when she could not smile due to her missing teeth, adding that it affected her social life and mental well-being. “You really don’t want to socialize because you don’t want to explain why you’re missing a tooth,” she said, revealing that one of the missing teeth was located near the front of her mouth.
The health issues that led to the loss of her teeth also revealed an infected tooth under an old dental bridge. “When your face swells up and goes down, your teeth move,” she explained. “We found a broken tooth under the bridge, which could have done more damage if we hadn’t discovered it.” This eventually led to the removal of several teeth. “Now I’m missing five teeth,” Glanville said.
The physical toll has also deeply affected Glanville’s mental health. “I’ve been so depressed,” she confessed. “It just seemed like, for the past year and a half, two years, anything and everything that could go wrong went wrong.” However, she is now working with a new therapist and is on improved medication to help manage her depression.
In addition to her dental struggles, Glanville revealed that she has spent a staggering $70,000 seeking answers for her facial disfigurement and swelling. She underwent extensive lab work, spending $10,000 on tests alone, and consulted a variety of specialists, including immunologists and rheumatologists. After a lengthy investigation, doctors diagnosed her with a facial parasite, which she may have contracted during a trip to Morocco.
“It’s been frustrating for all of us,” Glanville said, acknowledging the emotional and financial strain. Despite the challenges, she remains hopeful and focused on improving her outlook, saying, “I’m just trying to pivot and change my perspective instead of feeling sorry for myself.”
As she continues her treatment, Glanville’s journey toward recovery serves as a reminder of the complex and often hidden struggles that many face, and the importance of support from both medical professionals and loved ones.
