Reality TV star Lala Kent, best known for her role on Vanderpump Rules, has responded to criticism after fans noticed changes in the appearance of her three-year-old daughter Ocean’s teeth in Instagram photos.
Kent, 34, shares Ocean with her ex-fiancé Randall Emmett and recently welcomed her second child, Sosa, on September 3, conceived via intrauterine insemination with a sperm donor.
Eagle-eyed fans noted that in some of Kent’s Instagram posts, Ocean’s front teeth appeared sparkling white, while in others, they showed a slightly grey tint. Speculation ranged from permanent damage to suggestions that Kent may have whitened Ocean’s teeth. Addressing the buzz on her Instagram Stories, Kent explained the cause of the discoloration.
“Ocean has a fond relationship with her wild side and enjoys not listening,” Kent wrote, humorously describing her daughter’s adventurous nature. “She fell off her bike face first. There is trauma to the root of her two front teeth.”
Kent admitted she often edits her daughter’s teeth in photos, adding:
“Yes, I’m the mom who usually edits this. Go ahead and judge. The root isn’t dead, but we visit the dentist every three to six months for check-ups. They’ll likely have to be pulled, or she’ll need a root canal.”
Despite the injury, Kent shared that Ocean is unfazed, saying: “Ocean thinks they are ‘cool.’”
The explanation came after some fans speculated about other causes, including “bottle rot,” a condition caused by prolonged exposure to sugary liquids in baby bottles.
In addition to addressing the online scrutiny, Kent recently opened up about a frightening complication during the birth of her second daughter, Sosa.
“The cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times,” Kent recalled, describing the tense moment during delivery. “She let out one cry and then stopped.”
Doctors discovered that Sosa had swallowed a significant amount of amniotic fluid, which normally cushions the fetus and aids in nutrient exchange but can lead to complications if ingested in excess.
“She had so much fluid in her that she was vomiting all the food out,” Kent explained. Doctors initially drained 10 milliliters of fluid from Sosa’s stomach and later removed another eight. The amount of fluid prompted concern, with doctors recommending a surgeon’s evaluation.
As a mother of two, Kent has faced her share of challenges. From dealing with Ocean’s dental injury to navigating Sosa’s medical scare, she remains committed to sharing her experiences candidly with her followers.
While Kent admitted to editing Ocean’s photos to present a more polished image, she emphasized the importance of regular dental care and monitoring. Meanwhile, both daughters are recovering well, and Kent continues to advocate for transparency in her parenting journey.
With her hands full as a mother of two, Kent’s resilience and humor remain evident as she navigates the highs and lows of motherhood.
