Starting in January, patients at JPS Health Network’s neighborhood clinics will have access to an expanded range of dental services through a partnership with Bravo Dental, a Dallas-based company. JPS has leased space at five of its clinics to Bravo, which will offer more comprehensive dental treatments, including complex extractions, root canals, crowns, and bridges.
Currently, JPS provides basic dental care, but the partnership with Bravo will allow them to treat more patients with a wider variety of procedures. Bravo Dental, which already operates at Parkland Health in Dallas, is expected to handle more patient volume, addressing a significant gap in dental care. In Texas, dental services are in high demand, with reports showing that a large number of children, particularly third graders, suffer from cavities.
Bravo Dental accepts various insurances and offers affordable membership plans, like the “Bravo Baby” plan, which provides preventive services like exams, cleanings, and emergency visits for a flat annual fee. This is a crucial option for people who lack dental insurance but still need access to care. The collaboration aims to provide better care for at-risk populations, including those with HIV and new mothers and children.
Additionally, Bravo Dental plans to hire JPS’s 24 dental employees, further enhancing the clinic’s capacity to treat patients. The arrangement includes an annual rent of $134,677.51 for the clinic space, with Bravo also utilizing JPS grant funds to care for vulnerable groups.
This partnership is a significant step in improving dental access in the region, especially for those who face barriers like lack of insurance or complex dental needs.
