Align Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGN), a premier global medical device company known for its Invisalign® System of clear aligners, iTero™ intraoral scanners, and exocad™ CAD/CAM software, announced today a series of innovative product enhancements for its iTero intraoral scanners. These advancements provide a versatile solution tailored for general practitioner (GP) dentists, facilitating a comprehensive approach to patient interaction regarding treatment options in oral health, restorative, and aesthetic dentistry.
The newly launched Align™ Oral Health Suite is designed to boost patient interest and engagement through the iTero Element™ Plus series and iTero Lumina™ scan images integrated within clinical findings. This all-in-one chairside consultation tool empowers patients to visualize potential oral health conditions and understand associated root causes. GP practices utilizing iTero scanners in conjunction with the Align Oral Health Suite reported an estimated 9% increase in monthly revenue compared to those that did not implement these tools.
Another key feature is the Invisalign® Outcome Simulator Pro, which serves as a communication tool on the iTero Element Plus Series and Lumina imaging systems. This innovative tool generates realistic simulations of a patient’s teeth post-treatment, allowing for enhanced discussions about orthodontic and ortho-restorative options. The upgraded Invisalign Outcome Simulation Pro now offers two types of simulations chairside: Invisalign for ortho-only treatments and Invisalign Smile Architect™ for ortho-restorative solutions.
Additionally, the iTero™ Design Suite, available for all iTero models with a full service plan, provides an intuitive platform for doctors to design 3D printed models, bite splints, and restorations directly in the practice. This software aims to improve practice efficiency and enhance the patient experience by reducing treatment time through straightforward design processes for in-office 3D printing.
“The innovations introduced today for the iTero intraoral scanner will empower doctors to offer diverse treatment options to their patients,” stated Karim Boussebaa, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the iTero scanner and services division at Align Technology. “These tools support chairside education and communication, ultimately enhancing patient experience and enabling informed decision-making about dental treatments. In the contemporary landscape of digital dentistry, the iTero intraoral scanner significantly aids in boosting patient comprehension and treatment acceptance, while also promoting the adoption of the Align Digital Platform—a proprietary blend of software, systems, and services that ensures a cohesive experience for all stakeholders, including doctors, labs, patients, and consumers.”
The Align Oral Health Suite is specifically available for the iTero Lumina and iTero Element Plus Series scanners, with these innovations anticipated to be accessible in Q4 2024. Customers seeking further information about availability should contact their sales representatives.
