When I tested Oral-B’s Nighttime Dental Guard, I was impressed by how simple it was to set up and how comfortable it felt. Several experts, including New York City dentist Dr. Lana Rozenberg, Dr. Brijesh Chandwani, who specializes in jaw-joint disorders, and Dr. Rashmi Ambewadikar of Astoria Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, recommended the product for its ease of use and effectiveness as a temporary solution for those suffering from sleep bruxism (teeth grinding).
The guard comes with a microwave-safe case for both molding and storage. Following the instructions, I filled the case with water, placed the guard inside, and microwaved it for just over a minute. After draining the hot water, I rinsed the guard with lukewarm water to cool it before biting down on the impression tray for two minutes. Once set, I let the guard cool for around 30 minutes.
Although I wear Invisalign and couldn’t use the guard overnight, I tested it for an hour to assess its comfort. While it’s bulkier than the Invisalign trays I’m used to, the guard was still comfortable and fit securely over my front teeth. I also appreciated its subtle mint flavor, which felt fresh, as if I had just used mouthwash.
The Oral-B Nighttime Dental Guard has made multiple appearances on our best-sellers list, especially during the height of the pandemic, when stress-related teeth grinding became more common among readers seeking relief.
