Princeton’s Community Medical Clinic has officially relocated to its new premises at 1022 West Main Street, with its grand reopening taking place on August 20. The clinic, which also operates locations in Hopkinsville and Oak Grove, Ky., marks its 10th anniversary this year, adding significance to the move.
CEO Kecia Fulcher explained that the decision to relocate stemmed from the original facility’s inability to meet the growing needs of the clinic. “The downtown location, where we started in 2014, could no longer accommodate our expanding patient base and staff. This move has been in the works for four years, with the pandemic adding its own set of challenges,” Fulcher said. The relocation was funded in part by a federal capital update construction grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), although rising material costs and inflation reduced the grant’s impact from initially covering 60% of expenses to approximately 20%.
Fulcher emphasized the benefits of the new building, noting, “The increased parking, visibility, and space will enhance our service delivery. The previous facility was sufficient for our start, but this new location allows us to expand and offer more.”
The old facility’s limitations meant that only two practitioners could work simultaneously due to a shortage of exam rooms and overall space. The new building addresses these issues with nine exam rooms, up from five, and includes a procedure room and new x-ray equipment, significantly improving patient care and clinic operations.
Marketing Director Chloe King expressed enthusiasm about the enhanced facilities, stating, “We are thrilled to offer expanded services in a modern environment. The new location allows us to better accommodate our patients and provide comprehensive care.”
The clinic, which also offers dental services, aims to serve low-income and underinsured patients by providing flexible payment options. Fulcher highlighted the clinic’s role during the pandemic as a crucial safety net for those facing financial barriers to healthcare.
“We are committed to ensuring that financial difficulties do not impede access to quality care,” Fulcher added. “Our new location enhances our ability to serve the community effectively and continues our mission of providing essential healthcare services.”
