On Monday, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, Chief Medical Director of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), announced the opening of the LASUTH/OASIS Dental Centre in Lagos. The new facility aims to offer a comprehensive range of dental services, from routine preventive care to advanced treatments, catering to clients seeking expedited and premium private care.
Fabamwo explained that while Oasis Dental Clinic will supply the necessary equipment, LASUTH’s consultants will deliver the clinical services. He emphasized that this collaboration is not about operating a private dental clinic within LASUTH but rather providing an alternative dental care option for those preferring faster access to services.
The partnership also seeks to address the broader issue of retaining medical professionals in Nigeria, a challenge exacerbated by concerns over working conditions. “The ongoing ‘Japa’ phenomenon highlights the need for improved work environments,” Fabamwo noted.
Frederick John, a representative of Oasis Dental Clinic, highlighted the significance of the partnership in advancing dental care accessibility. He affirmed the commitment to delivering top-notch, patient-centered care through this collaboration. The new center, located within the Sustainable Development Goal building at LASUTH, will offer services including teeth cleaning, fillings, extractions, braces, and oral surgery.
