KARACHI – HITEC-IMS Dental College, in association with the Asia Pacific Dental Students Association – Pakistan (APDSA-Pakistan), recently hosted an advanced workshop on teeth whitening, titled “Radiant Smiles: Workshop on Teeth Whitening,” at its Operative Dentistry Department.
The one-day event, held at HITEC Dental Hospital, was designed to refine the skills and expand the knowledge of dental professionals regarding advanced teeth whitening techniques.
A distinguished panel led the workshop, including Prof. Dr. Beenish Qureshi, Head of Operative Dentistry; Dr. Sharaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Operative Dentistry; and Dr. Amna Riaz, Head of Pediatric Dentistry.
The event was orchestrated by Dr. Maarij Saeed, Director of Continuing Education, and Dr. Ushna Naeem, Liaison Officer at HITEC-IMS.
The workshop began with an insightful lecture from Prof. Dr. Beenish Qureshi, who offered an extensive overview of various teeth whitening methods. This was followed by detailed demonstrations of both vital and non-vital bleaching techniques, and at-home whitening strategies, led by Dr. Sharaz Ahmad and Dr. Amna Riaz.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in practical exercises, applying vital bleaching techniques on volunteer patients affected by fluorosis and severe staining. The facilitators provided expert guidance throughout these hands-on sessions.
The workshop concluded with the HITEC-IMS Dental College principal presenting shields and certificates to both facilitators and participants. In his closing address, he highlighted the increasing significance of teeth whitening in contemporary dentistry and commended the Operative Dentistry Department for the successful execution of the event.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the high quality of instruction and the valuable practical experience gained during the workshop.
