A groundbreaking advancement in dental technology has emerged with the successful completion of the world’s first fully automated dental procedure. Using AI-driven 3D imaging software and a robotic arm, the new system promises to revolutionize restorative dentistry with “unparalleled speed and precision.”
The developers claim that tasks such as crown placements, which typically require two separate visits to the dentist, each lasting at least an hour, can now be completed more efficiently.
“We’re excited to successfully complete the world’s first fully automated robotic dental procedure,” said Dr. Chris Ciriello, CEO and Founder of Perceptive. “This medical breakthrough enhances the precision and efficiency of dental procedures and democratizes access to better dental care, improving patient experience and clinical outcomes.”
An advanced scanner captures 3D images beneath the gum line, through fluids, and under the tooth surface. The device then analyzes the data to meticulously plan out the procedure, freeing human dentists to diagnose and treat more patients more effectively in less time.
The robotic dental device is still under development, and there is no current indication of when it will be available to the public.
