Seventeen-year-old Dante Scott, facing the removal of his four wisdom teeth, is receiving this $5,000 procedure for free, thanks to Westwood Oral Surgery’s new “Wisdom for Wisdom” program in Woodbury, New Jersey.
The initiative, launched by the practice after 50 years in the community, offers free extractions to students who have faced personal hardships.
Scott, a high school senior aiming to be a mechanical engineer, will use the savings from the surgery toward his college fund. “It’s a huge help,” said his aunt and guardian, Taylor Brandon, who nominated him for the program.
Oral surgeon Kristine Gleason explained that Scott’s wisdom teeth were growing sideways, causing potential issues. The procedure, performed under sedation, went smoothly, and Scott was upbeat in recovery, ready to enjoy ice cream and smoothies as part of his healing process.
