A local dental practice’s abrupt closure has left patients grappling with severe pain and uncertainty. Brunswick Place Dental in Southampton recently posted an unexpected notice on its door, announcing its immediate closure “until further notice,” leaving many in distress.
The practice, which provided both NHS and private dental services, has gone into administration under mysterious circumstances. Patients are now scrambling to find alternative care.
Louise Havinga, 38, a long-time patient of Brunswick Place Dental, described her ordeal after discovering the closure while enduring severe dental pain. Havinga, who had been receiving treatment for a tooth infection, was in the midst of securing her medical records when she learned of the sudden shutdown.
“I’ve been a patient at this practice for eight years and never had a positive experience,” said Havinga. “At 3 a.m., while struggling with relentless pain, I saw the news of the closure on Facebook. I was shocked and devastated.”
Havinga’s struggle has been compounded by the inability to access her medical records, which are crucial for her ongoing treatment. “I’ve been in agony waiting for an appointment, and now I’m left without my records and unable to contact anyone for help.”
Vivienne Windle, a Banister and Polygon ward member at Southampton City Council, has advised affected patients to reach out to the NHS 111 helpline for emergency dental care.
“The pain is unbearable,” Havinga continued. “I’m dependent on painkillers daily, which is exhausting. My daughter and I have had to cancel planned trips. The constant pain robs me of sleep and affects my ability to eat and enjoy meals.”
As the situation unfolds, patients are left navigating their own paths to relief amid the chaos of Brunswick Place Dental’s unexpected closure.
