In a proactive move to tackle children’s dental health issues, medical teams may soon visit schools across Essex. The initiative, spearheaded by Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), aims to identify and address dental problems early on.
The program aims to prevent tooth decay and the need for early teeth extraction among children, stressing that these issues are entirely preventable. Particularly focused on areas with high dental health needs in mid and south Essex, the initiative responds to rising cases of significant tooth decay in young children.
According to reports, an increasing number of children under the age of 10 are requiring tooth removal under general anesthesia. Experts emphasize the importance of preserving baby teeth to ensure the proper development and eruption of adult teeth.
The campaign underscores the necessity of early intervention and education in maintaining children’s oral health, highlighting the role of routine dental checks in schools as a vital step towards achieving this goal.
