Vancouver, BC – In a significant milestone for community healthcare, the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Dentistry marked the soft opening of the Elizabeth Fry (EFry) Health Centre. This new facility aims to provide essential dental care services to vulnerable women and children across British Columbia.
During the inauguration event, EFry Health Services Society Executive Director Kathy Marchal underscored the Centre’s commitment to offering holistic, trauma-informed, and culturally safe healthcare. Attendees were given guided tours of the facility, allowing them to explore its state-of-the-art amenities, followed by a detailed Q&A panel session.
Under the supervision of UBC faculty members, dental and dental hygiene students will administer a wide spectrum of services including restorative, preventative, and emergency care to patients. Dr. Ishtpreet Kaur Mangat, a clinical instructor at the Centre, specializes in holistic treatment approaches, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs.
Moreover, the Centre plans to integrate medical care and mental health support alongside its dental services, aiming to address broader health concerns within the community.
