Costa Mesa dentist Clint Walker recently organized a daylong event focused on improving oral health and access to dental care for local residents. On August 19, Walker and his team, including dental assistants and office workers, participated in Smile Generation Serve Day. This nationwide initiative aims to provide dental services to individuals without insurance or those facing financial barriers.
The team at 17th Street Modern Dentistry in Costa Mesa offered free crowns, fillings, and other necessary dental procedures to seven individuals in a single day, totaling $35,000 worth of care. This effort is a collaboration between Pacific Dental Services and Smile Generation. While Pacific Dental Services offers consultant services and technology to dental offices, Smile Generation provides dental plans and financing options.
Dentists within their networks volunteer their services for this cause. Clint Walker, who established his Costa Mesa practice in 2018, emphasized the importance of giving back and assisting those in need. One beneficiary, Chad Taulbee, a Long Beach resident, had put off dental care due to financial constraints. Thanks to the initiative, he received $6,390 worth of dental work, including deep cleaning, fillings, and crowns. Taulbee expressed his gratitude for the timely act of kindness that transformed his smile and outlook.
Another beneficiary, David Feagin, had six teeth extracted and received a partial denture, valued at $13,448. The initiative not only improved his oral health but also enhanced his confidence and quality of life.
Walker highlighted the link between oral health and overall well-being, emphasizing the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and gums. The hope behind initiatives like Serve Day is that recipients will consider continuing their treatment beyond the event. Nevertheless, the immediate needs of those assisted are addressed, contributing to a healthier community.
