How long does it take to make an implant?
The overall treatment process for dental implants takes about 3-6 months and is divided into the following three stages: 1.
Preoperative examination and implant treatment: systematic examination of the missing tooth and the whole oral condition, oral X-ray film, and corresponding treatment.
Make implant treatment plan according to the patient’s specific situation.
Make an appointment for the implant.
2. Implantation stage: Under local anesthesia, the artificial root, or implant, is implanted into the alveolar bone.
Inserting an implant usually takes 10-30 minutes, there is no pain during the operation, and there is little post-operative reaction.
If the missing tooth has insufficient bone mass, some artificial bone meal should be implanted to replace it.
In general, implant surgery is a less invasive oral procedure.
After implantation, patients do not need to be hospitalized, eat soft food the same day, and do not brush their teeth or gargle for 24 hours.
Anti-inflammatory drugs are usually taken orally for 3-5 days.
It takes two to six months for the root to attach to the alveolar bone, during which time the patient can wear a temporary denture.
3. Crown restoration: 2-6 months after implantation, when the artificial root and alveolar bone are completely fused, the crown restoration process of the implant will start, which will take about 1 month.
Usually, the crowns are all-porcelain crowns, which are exquisite in texture, vivid in color, comfortable and beautiful, satisfactory in restorative function, and durable.
After the crown is put on and the final restoration is complete, it needs to be checked every six months to a year.
Regular maintenance is beneficial to the long-term use of dental implants.
